Right in the middle of the Pessaro Hills, in the wine region of Le Marche, you’ll find Azienda Agraria Guerrieri, a family-owned winery that has been producing wine for more than 200 years. Today, this boutique Italian winery is run by the 6th generation of the Guerrieri family, Luca, Maria Giulia, and Alberto Guerrieri. This is Central Italy on the east coast, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Guerrieri comprises 48 acres of vineyards, planted in gray and blue marl soils, consisting of calcareous clay and silt. The vineyard is managed 100% under organic practices, with a minimum intervention policy.
Guerrieri's philosophy of respect does not only apply to the vineyard, it also extends to the people. They're extremely responsible for the environment, the community, and their people. Their life mantra is to "Restore the ancient knowledge of our ancestors: Simplicity, respect, sustainability, solidarity."
Guerriero del Mare, a noble wine born from the oldest vines (planted in 1919) of the Bianchello grape, pays homage to the Mediterranean Sea. This special wine undergoes a unique fermentation process, with a portion aged in oak barrels for a year and the rest in stainless steel tanks. The grapes, hand-selected for perfect ripeness, are harvested late. This meticulous approach, combined with sustainable farming practices, results in a wine that captures the essence of the sea. Guerriero del Mare is only produced in exceptional years.
Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels.
100% Bianchello. Wow. This wine delivers the scents of the Adriatic Sea combined with a fresh lemon, manuka honey, honeycrisp apple and pear sorbet. The innovative blend includes a portion aged in oak and a portion aged in stainless tank sothere is gravitas to this wine but also a vibrant crispness thatmakes us smile.
Its complex flavors and aromas, developed through extended aging in oak barrels, make it the perfect companion to seafood, white meats, cheeses, and truffles. A sip of this wine is a journey through time, a taste of history, and a celebration of Italy's central coast.
