“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.
Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region.
We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”
Domaine Raimbault-Pineau is located in the heart of Sury-enVaux. The estate’s terroir is iconic, with soils that date back to the Cretaceous and Jurassic eras, formed between 100 to 150 million years. The vineyards are located in 3 different types of soils: Caillottes,(calcareous and rocky soils that result in fine and fruity wines) Terres Blanches,(composed of clay and shells, which contribute to the complexity of the wine), and Silex (a siliceous sedimentary rock, granting smoked aromas and an elegant minerality.)
Today, the 13th generation of the family, Sonia Raimbault is at the helm of the winery. Sonia and Lucien, have a deep understanding and love for their land and wines. They’ve managed to carry a sustainable estate from the vineyard to the cellar. The vineyards are located in some of the best Loire appellations like Sancerre, Pouilly-fumé, Coteaux-du-tennis, and MenetouSalon.
Tasting Notes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. A great fine wine, rich and powerful with a persistent length full of fruits and vegetable aromas like blackcurrant leaf, white flowers, and citrus. Ideal as an aperitif, but it pairs excellently with starters, seafood, and fish, goat cheese, salads.
