This style of winemaking is said to date back to the Greek occupation of the island. Sicily may be most well known for its massive volcano and decadent pizzas, but these wines are really starting to develop a reputation of their own. It’s time to prepare your favorite hearty pasta and pair it with this Sicilian masterpiece. Are you ready for a meal filled with gastronomic ecstasy?
Valle dell’Acate's story begins in the late 19th century with Giuseppe Jacono. Back then, Vittoria, Sicily, was a bustling hub for Frappato wine exports to France. The grapes were meticulously vinified in the historic Palmento, where tradition met innovation.
In 1981, Giuseppe Jacono Jr. continued the family tradition and focused on native Sicilian grapes. The Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Sicily's unique DOCG, and the Frappato DOC di Vittoria, renowned as the finest Frappato in Sicily, became their pride.
In 1996, Gaetana Jacono joined the team, leading Valle dell’Acate towards international recognition. Her mission: to introduce the world to Ragusa's terroir treasures. Gaetana is not only a guardian of tradition but also a pioneer of sustainability, shaping the future while respecting the past.
In 2001, father and daughter embarked on an ambitious restoration of the Palmento and Dispensa, offering visitors a chance to travel back in time and conclude their journey with wine tasting and delicious local cuisine.
The estate sits on unspoiled land with diverse ecosystems. Valle dell’Acate's commitment to quality is intertwined with their deep respect for the environment. The winery is perched above an ancient Greek archaeological site.
With the expertise of enologist Carlo Casavecchia, Gaetana elevated Il Frappato di Vittoria DOC Valle dell’Acate to the title of "the best in Sicily." Their BDN Cerasuolo di Vittoria is Sicily's only DOCG.
Gaetana Jacono became the Brand Ambassador of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG and the Ragusa territory, furthering her commitment to quality and tradition.
Valle dell’Acate proudly participates in the VIVA (Sustainable Viticulture) project, aligned with Italy's Ministry for Environment and Territory Safeguard. They are also pioneering the first Energetic Community of the Italian Vineyard.

100% Frappato. Aromas are fresh and overpowering with hints of red fruits, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, violet flowers and sage. Fresh and vivacious flavors with a pleasant and persistent closing.
A delightfully fragrant nose gives strawberry candy and hibiscus iced tea with just the briefest glimpse of tanned leather and tobacco leaf. The palate is loaded with more strawberries and then an herbal-tea blend comes through, lifted by fizzy acid. ~91 Wine Enthusiast
A rather floral and fruit-forward nose with rose, raspberry and strawberry coming through. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. Linear, fruity and fun. ~90 James Suckling
Brilliant ruby red with medium transparency. Slight reduction on the nose, then strawberry and raspberry, paired with tangerine peel and clove. On the palate, there is clear fruit, a floral touch, fresh and juicy with grippy medium length. ~90 Falstaff
