About the Wine
Powerful and structured, worthy of aging, a wine that comes from one of the most reputable appellations in the world, listed in the most important wine classification, a wine with high accolades from some of the most important critics in the world, that is the Chateau Dauzac Margaux!
The story behind Château Dauzac is really intriguing. The Château dates from 1190, when Pétrus d'Auzac inherited these lands from Richard I, King of England. Over the years, the superb wines from Dauzac began to acquire an excellent reputation, becoming one of the favorites of the aristocracy; This led them to be recognized as 5th Growth Grand Cru Classe in the Official Bordeaux Classification of 1855.
Later in 1924, the Château passed into the hands of the same owners of the 2nd Growth Ducru-Beaucaillou. It was thanks to this family that Château Dauzac adopted the yellow color on its labels, a strong identity that is preserved to this day.
Throughout history, Château Dauzac has passed through different owners, from French businessmen to insurance companies; It is important to note that all of them have achieved important strides within the vineyard, winemaking, and cellar. All these efforts are clearly shown in the result of the outstanding wines that are produced at Château Dauzac to this day. As of 2020, it became the property of the successful French businessman, Christian Roulleau.
The Dauzac vineyard is made up of more than 120 acres, of which 111 have the Margaux appellation and the rest have the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vineyards are mostly made up of Cab Sauvignon, followed by Merlot and Petit Verdot. Château Dauzac has started to implement biodynamic principles, in addition to highly integrated agriculture and organic practices.

Tasting Notes
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot. The 2016 vintage is extremely rich and precise without being excessive, revealing bright fruit and a dense and complex raw material. The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend gives it an exceptional acidity/alcohol balance that is an indication of a great vintage. Pair this wine with white meat, poultry, red meat, game, cheese.
Critical Reviews
With 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine reveals structure and a firm core. Coming from the most southerly classed growth vineyard in Margaux, it is rich, balanced and elegant. Drink this fine wine from 2027. ~94 Wine Enthusiast
The 2021 Dauzac has a commendable bouquet with blackberry, wild strawberry and crushed stone scents, touches of iris flower emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a pliant entry, cohesive and much less bitter than its peers. It has a harmonious and pretty finish that, frankly, puts some grander names to shame. Bravo. ~92 Vinous Media
Attractive sense of fun and lift, still very much in the spirit of the vintage but well hadled, with the floral violet and rose signature of the apellation, and a ton of lift, fresh raspbery and blueberry fruits, has momentum. 44hl/h yield. Enjoyable, this is an upscore. ~92 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
