Just over the peak of Howell Mountain and right next to the legendary Pritchard Hill lies Napa Valley’s last great frontier—Pope Valley. It’s the kind of place you’d stumble upon if you were on a treasure hunt, and trust us, Cervantes Family Vineyard is the gold at the end of the map. Rugged, remote, and ridiculously beautiful, this hidden gem is quietly dropping some of Napa’s most jaw-dropping Cabernet Sauvignon.

The dream team behind this wine is straight-up Napa royalty. Andy Erickson—the man, the myth, the legend behind Screaming Eagle, Harlan, and Ovid—has teamed up with rising rockstar Jessica Tarpy to craft this masterpiece.

The vineyard itself? A wild 1,100-acre ranch with just five acres of hillside vines. It’s the kind of place where nature is king, the views are straight out of a movie, and the wine... oh, the wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon doesn’t just check all the boxes for a Napa icon—it rewrites the playbook. It’s bold, it’s elegant, and it’s got the kind of pedigree that makes you whisper, “How do more people not know about this?”

But here’s the thing: this allocation is tiny. Like blink-and-it’s-gone tiny. So if you want to get your hands on this bottle, don’t sit around waiting. This isn’t just Napa Cab. This is Napa Cab with swagger, and trust us—you’ll want to be part of the story before everyone else catches on.

2021 is looking to be one of the vintages of the decade. Vinous Media blessed this year with a 95-98 point score, and said: "Two thousand twenty-one is a fabulous vintage in Napa Valley. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that production is down sharply, 30-50% in many cases. The wines have tremendous energy as well as finesse. In tasting, the 2021s show some of the savory intensity of other drought vintages – 2013 and 2014 come to mind – but with more aromatic explosiveness and greater inner sweetness."

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16%Malbec, 6% Petit Sirah. The Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterpiece of structure and finesse. Deep, dark, and bold, it delivers incredible concentration with layers of intense, refined tannins that give it a powerful presence. Yet, what sets this wine apart is its impeccable balance—bright, vibrant energy meets seamless harmony, making every sip both commanding and elegant.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, with 16% Malbec and 6% Petite Sirah in the blend, is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of warm cassis, juicy plums, and boysenberry preserves leading to hints of violets, star anise, and forest floor with a waft of black olives. The full-bodied palate delivers incredible tension and depth, with firm, grainy tannins to frame the taut, tightly packed black fruits, finishing long and with wonderful purity. ~98 The Wine Indepentent

The 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Cervantes is sensational. It instantly bursts open with seductive aromatics of ripe blackberries, blueberries and creme de cassis that are laced with exotic spices, tilled soil grphite shavings and hints of dark chocolate that all explode from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied with excellent depth and concentration. This multi-layered Cabernet is well-structured and retains excellent freshness through the long supple finish. This is a fabulous wine from Cervantes and winemaker Andy Erickson which looks to be the most impressive wine yet from this outstanding winery.~97 International Wine Report

Ripe blue fruit, savory herbs, and a touch of lavender and sagebrush all emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium to full-bodied, charming, layered, ripe 2021 that's already drinking nicely. It should keep for a decade. ~94 Jeb Dunnuck

Black berry, black olive, bark and pine cone character follow through to a full body with round and chewy tannins with black currants and dark chocolate. It’s savory and harmonious for Pope Valley. Better in a couple of years. Try after 2025. ~93 James Suckling

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is an inky, full-throttle wine. Black cherry, plum, black currant, chocolate, licorice and copious new oak are all dialed up. There's not a ton of subtlety here, but this is impeccably done for this style. ~93 Vinous Media
