“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.
Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region. Decanter said, “Sancerre is today a Sauvignon Blanc stronghold in France's Loire Valley, known for delicious dry white wines with beautiful texture and refreshing acidity.”
Domaine Chatelain dates back to 1630 when the Chatelain family arrived in Loire. Today, the 12th generation of the family, Vincent Chatelain, is the proud owner and director of this magnificent winery.
The estate is planted with more than 74 acres of vineyards, located between Pouilly Fumé AOC and Sancerre AOC. The family’s expertise and love for the land are what led them to produce these outstanding wines. They say, “creative freedom and meticulous selection of grapes is what allows us to deliver high-quality, balanced, and very distinctive wines.”
The Sauvignon Blanc to produce this stunning Sancerre comes from different terroirs, 80% from vineyards on clay and limestone soil, and 20% from the “caillottes” of Verdigny, Sury en Vaux, in Chavignol. The result is an elegant, rich Sancerre.
Tasting Notes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Bright yellow-green. Elegant, and aromatic with exotic fruit flavors and English sweet notes. The palate is elegant, fresh, fruity, and well-balanced.
