About the Wine
Let’s cut to the chase—Dolum Estate isn’t here to play; it’s here to win. For 30 years, this Napa Valley icon has been quietly crafting red wine that punches well above its weight. Think luxury, think bold, think the kind of wine that has sommeliers swooning and critics scrambling for superlatives.
Dolum sources its magic from Napa’s holy grail regions—Oakville, Stags Leap, and other elite sub-districts (oh, and Sonoma magic!). And as if that’s not enough, Dolum flexes with its own 40+-year-old vines planted in Oakville’s prime terroir.
Chad Alexander isn’t just a winemaker; he’s a legend. With a career spanning iconic names like Mt. Veeder’s Hess Collection, Chad’s got a Midas touch for turning grapes into gold. His obsessive attention to detail ensures every bottle delivers world-class quality—and then some. Critics? They’re obsessed. Wine lovers? Hooked.
2018 vintage was the debut vintage of the Cask #11 Red, and it’s was a showstopper. A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, this bottle combines the best of Sonoma Mountain (91%) with a kiss of Oakville (9%).
On top of it all, 2018 was an EPIC vintage. The vintage was awarded 98 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Vinous Media, and Wine Spectator.
Tasting Notes
74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Waves of juicy blackberry, lush blackcurrant, and rich black cherry hit your palate like a symphony of indulgence. But wait, there’s more—decadent caramel notes and a cheeky pop of blueberry bring a little extra swagger to the mix. It’s bold, it’s plush, and it’s so ridiculously good, you’ll be pouring a second glass before you’ve finished the first.
Critical Reviews
Determined and driven with insistent tannins. Plum, lavender, and espresso are enveloped in a dusty coating for a chewy, dry finish. ~94 The Tasting Panel Magazine
