About the Wine
This 2020 Burgundy is one of the region’s best values and an ideal wine to purchase to ensure you have some 2020 in your collection. It’s definitely a not-to-be-missed vintage. Decanter reports that "the unique conditions of 2020 means it is an exceptional Burgundy vintage. The potential was there to make sublime wines."
Domaine Henri Latour is a 37-acre estate owned and managed by brothers, Francois and Sylvan Latour, in Auxey-Duresses. They represent the 7th generation of growers. The vineyards— with vines that are 50 to 70 years old—are farmed sustainably using the lutte raisonnée philosophy, an approach that embraces using agrochemicals when only absolutely necessary. The fruit is hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard and again when it arrives at the Domaine via a sorting table. The vines and the grapes are cared for with all the respect they are due. The end result is a complex, quality Burgundy that also just happens to be a downright steal.
The short supply and global demand of quality red burgundy means the prices have been skyrocketing over the last decade. We only purchase selected Burgundies that meet our stringent criteria for quality and value and pass our taste tests. At our price, you can afford to fill in more than one empty spot in your cellar.
Aging: Aged in a combination of new and old barrels
Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. Complex with deep plum, cherry, and leather on the nose. On the palate, it’s full of ripe, jammy cherry and white tobacco, plus some earthy minerality that Burgundies from Côte de Beaune are known for. It’s also structured and well-balanced.
