2nd Growth Cos d'Estournel's Second Wine: 2016 Goulee by Cos d'Estournel Medoc

If you’ve been hanging around BHW long enough, you’ll know that you don’t have to have a large bank account to have a nice collection of Bordeaux from classified wineries in your cellar Cos d'Estournel—located 1 mile from world-renowned Château Lafite Rothschild— is a Second Growth winery with a long and prestigious history dating as far back as 1811. Goulee is the winery’s second wine, made with the same depth and power seen in Cos d’Estournel’s premier wine that can cost $250 or more.

This wine offers a world-class pedigree at an entry-level price! A lot of it has to do with the vineyard soils that have exceptionally deep layers of gravel creating one of the world’s most precious terroirs. James Suckling praises Goulee, saying it’s “full-bodied, layered, dense and very rich.” Decanter’s expert reviewer says, “Easily one of the best Goulées that I have tasted.”

We agree with the high praise the 2016 Goulee receives, and we’re thrilled to offer this wine at an outstanding price. We’re also offering the wine cellar-aged, meaning that it’s been kept in excellent condition for you for the past 7 years. This Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend is now ready to drink or to put in your cellar for at least a decade.
