Carte Blanch is a cult boutique winery in Napa Valley, founded in 2007 by Nicholas Allen. Nicholas was born and raised among wines and vines. In fact, his great-grandfather is none other than Clearance Dillon, owner of the iconic 1st Growth, Château Haut-Brion, and Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion.
Thanks to the passion and dedication that Nicholas has brought to Carte Blanch, this winery has quickly become a benchmark in the world for luxury and limited wines from Napa Valley.
Helen Keplinger is the chief winemaker and the mastermind behind the exclusive Carte Blanch wines. She completed her studies at the prestigious University of UC Davis; and subsequently, she acquired her expertise in Australia, Priorat, and the USA, where she worked at vineyards of the caliber of Paradigm Winery and Fiddlehead Cellars. In addition, she has learned from some of the best winemakers in the world like Michel Rolland. Helen was named “Winemaker of the Year” in 2012 by Food & Wine magazine, and in 2014 she was recognized by Wine Spectator magazine as a producer of “innovative and exciting” wines.
Carte Blanche wines are produced with a generations-long commitment to creating fine, limited, handcrafted wines. 2016 Carte Blanche Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a top-tier, exclusive, and limited wine. This 100% Cab Sauvignon has earned the respect and admiration of some of the world's leading critics, and with 3x97 scores, this wine is a showstopper.
2016 was one of the best years that Napa Valley has experienced. This extraordinary year received a 98-point score by Vinous, Robert Parker, and Wine Spectator.
Aging: 22 months in new oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Stunning color in the glass, an electrifying nose showcases black currants, cassis, cigar box, and red fruit. The palate is opulent, plush, and structured with integrated sweet tannins showcasing notes of dark blackberry, black cherry, and bittersweet chocolate dance through an everlasting and strong finish.
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Featuring a deep garnet-purple color, it sashays out of the glass with gregarious notions of baked plums, warm cassis, and blueberry compote with suggestions of kirsch, dusty soil, and Indian spices. The palate is full-bodied and laden with bright, lively, energetic black fruits, supported with firm, super ripe tannins and finishing on a persistent exotic spice note.500 cases were made.” ~97+ Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
“A different beast, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is more backward and reticent, and while it needs 4-5 years of bottle age, is packed with potential. Both black and blue fruits, earth, tobacco, and freshly crushed rock notes all flow to a full-bodied 2016 that has plenty of fine tannins, remarkable purity of fruit, and beautiful intensity and length.Do your best to give this some bottle age, and you’ll be rewarded with a phenomenal Napa Valley Cabernet that will keep for 2-3 decades.” ~97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck.
“This is very intense with spices, walnuts, herbs, and plums, as well as blackcurrants. It’s full-to medium-bodied with agility, freshness, and ultra-fine tannins that are juicy and flavorful. Lots of fruit, but it remains in check and fresh. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.” ~97 Points, James Suckling.
