About the Wine

Established in 1596 on the picturesque slopes of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Guy & Yvan Dufouleur has stood the test of time. Today, Yvan Dufouleur and his uncle Xavier carry on the family legacy, ensuring that each bottle reflects their unwavering commitment to quality.

The Dufouleur family understands that great wine is born in the vineyard. Their 28-acre vineyards (located on prime, even enviable terroir sites, stretching from Fixin to Santenay) are 100% committed to natural farming practices and sustainable viticulture. In 2021, the estate achieved the HVE 3 certification.

Domaine Guy & Yvan Dufouleur takes immense pride in its deep-rooted heritage. With over 400 years of winemaking history, they are custodians of the prestigious Burgundy vineyard climates, classified as a world heritage site. Each bottle tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the extraordinary wines that have captivated wine lovers throughout the ages. The wines are a testament to the terroir, offering a pure expression of the Burgundy region.

"Les Crots" is a 1er Cru gem, born in the heart of the prestigious Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The average age of the vines is of 70 years, this results in a very deep and complex wine, showcasing the wisdom gained from the passage of time.

This wine is truly age-worthy, it's perfect to drink right now, but it will only continue to improve!

Aging: 12 months in French barrels, 1/3 new

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. Dense robe, with lots of freshness in its youth with very often aromas of violets. The palate is pleasant, silky, and finesse. Over the years, it suggests aromas of slightly licorice fur and candied cherries.

Reviews

The nose is fruity, aromatic, and elegant and offers a small richness as well as a fine grain. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, fleshy Questch plum, and small notes of Sichuan pepper associated with very fine hints of tonka bean and spices. The palate is fruity, and well-balanced and offers richness/juiciness, a fine acidulous frame, elegance, a fine fat as well as a fine grain. In the mouth, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy raspberry and small notes of fleshy blackberry associated with fine touches of violet, lily as well as discreet hints of racy minerality and nutmeg. Tannins are very discreetly firm. An imperceptible hint of tonka bean on the persistence. ~94 VertdeVin.
