Bodega Benegas is one of Argentina’s most respected wineries, known for crafting high-altitude wines that express the pure essence of Mendoza’s terroir. The winery was founded on a rich legacy, built by Federico Benegas Lynch, a visionary who recognized the potential of Mendoza’s vineyards and the importance of traditional winemaking. His dedication to low-intervention viticulture and meticulous craftsmanship has made Bodega Benegas a reference point for quality wines from the Uco Valley. Federico's grandparent, Don Tiburcio was the founder of the iconic Bodegas Trapiche in Argentina

The Benegas Estate Chardonnay originates from Finca La Encerrada, a vineyard situated at 1,450 meters above sea level in Gualtallary, Uco Valley. This cool-climate, high-altitude site benefits from mineral-rich soils and significant diurnal temperature shifts, allowing for slow ripening and the preservation of acidity, freshness, and structure in the wine. These natural conditions contribute to the elegance and complexity that define this Chardonnay.

With an aging potential of over five years, this wine is a testament to Gualtallary’s world-class Chardonnay potential and Bodega Benegas’ commitment to excellence.

Aging: 9 months in French oak barrels.

A blend of 100% Chardonnay, this wine displays a clean, bright yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is elegant and expressive, featuring aromas of white fruits, subtle mineral notes, and a delicate touch of French oak. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, with a smooth entry, refined structure, and a long, persistent finish that showcases the vibrancy and complexity of Gualtallary’s high-altitude terroir.

This is from a selection of blocks from Benegas' finca in the Monasterio zone of Gualtallary, in the north of the Uco Valley, where the soils are rich in limestone, which usually imparts a saline touch to the chardonnays. That is clearly evident here, along with notes of white fruits and flowers. The texture is succulent, although accompanied by juicy, refreshing acidity. Since its first vintage in 2020, this has consistently been one of the best examples of the variety in Uco." ~ 94 Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
