Epic 98 Point Vintage, Vinous Media: 2016 Talosa Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s most revered wines, often referred to as The King of All Wines. It was a favorite of some of the most influential popes, kings, and presidents of Italy throughout time. It’s also one of our favorite wines, and we have uncovered a six-year-old cellar aged gem that stacks up easily to $60+ Brunellos. Seriously!
One of the region’s treasures is Fattoria Della Talosa, an estate that’s a watershed in the quality of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. It’s from this well-respected estate that the 95 point 2016 Talosa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG was crafted from grapes grown during an epic vintage. Wine-Searcher said this was "perhaps the best vintage in the modern history of its region." Vinous Media blessed it with 98 points stating that this year delivered "truly exceptional wines," and that the Riservas offer "extraordinary quality and value."
This Riserva shows both extraordinary quality and extraordinary value. WinesCritic—with its 95 point score—raves, "Wow, a Riserva that remembers in a modern way the wines of the past for its frankness and beauty in the sip." Vinous Media calls it a "sensual and opulent wine" making no secret of its importance by saying, "This is a wine and vintage to watch."
When you consider the excellent vintage that this exceptional wine comes from, this is an indisputable choice if you want to stock up on extraordinary Sangiovese from the 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano vintage. Enjoyable now, it will keep in the cellar for several years. Both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator expect it to continue to shine through at least 2030.
