Right in the heart of Bairrada, Portugal's praised sparkling wine region, is Adega de Cantanhede, the largest wine producer in the region and home to this lovely sparkling wine. This cooperative was founded in 1954, and currently has more than 500 winegrowers associated. 

Adega de Cantanhede, has a great focus on quality and is certified with the International Standards of Quality and Food Safety ISO 9001, ensuring that the 8 million grapes that are harvested per year will accomplish the high-quality standards required. 

The mastermind behind this wine is no other than winemaker Osvaldo Amado, named on different occasions as the best winemaker in Portugal, "Top Winemaker" in the Wine Master Challenge, and "Winemaker of the year ”by the Magazine Revista de Vinhos de Portugal. Osvaldo has had a long and outstanding career in the world of wine for more than 30 years, working in emblematic regions of Portugal such as Bairrada, Dão, Douro, Tejo, and abroad in Spain, Italy, South Africa, Brazil; an icon of Portuguese winemaking!

The Adega de Cantanhede vineyards are planted with typical varieties of the region like Baga, Bical, and Maria-Gomes; however, they have started working with Portuguese varieties from other regions such as Touriga-Nacional, Aragonez, and Arinto, allowing Osvaldo to play with blends and achieve unique, surprising and well thought out wines.

The portfolio of this cooperative is extensive and designed for every demanding palate. Thanks to all the work behind each bottle, and to the demanding quality standards in the production, they have managed to be recognized and praised in prestigious competitions like Mundus Vini and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

In 2015, the winery was ranked among the best 100 in the world according to the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wines and Spirits, and as the "Best Wine Cooperative of the Year 2019" by the wine magazine Vinho - Grandes Escolhas.
