About The Wine

Borgo Maragliano has been family-owned in Loazzolo, in the Langa Astigiana, since 1850 — five generations of Giovanni Galliano's line farming the steep, chalky hillsides of Alta Langa. In the 1970s, the estate became one of the first in Piemonte to specialize in classic-method sparkling wine. Today, Carlo Galliano — oenology degree from Alba in hand — runs winemaking across 41 hectares, with his wife Silvia and two of their three sons.

The Cuvee Germana Beltrame Brut Nature is the estate's only non-vintage bottling, named for Carlo's mother. It's a solera blend of six vintages from 2013 through 2018, each fermented and aged separately in stainless steel before being combined just before the second fermentation. The wine then spends 36 months on the lees in underground tuff cellars — a Blanc de Blancs that layers young, punchy fruit with evolved, honeyed depth.

Alta Langa Chardonnay is high-tension stuff: the altitude and the limestone deliver minerality and acidity that Champagne growers would recognize instantly. This is Brut Nature — zero dosage — so there's nothing to hide behind. What you taste is the grape, the chalk, and the time.

In the glass: pale straw with green highlights, fine persistent mousse. The nose moves from citrus and carbide to orange liqueur and bitter walnut. The palate is dry, taut, and complex — minerality and acidity in lockstep, with aromatic herbs and honey filling the mid-palate. The finish is long, clean, and uncompromising. This is serious sparkling wine at a price that makes no sense.

100% Chardonnay, Traditional Method (the Champagne way), Brut Nature with no sugar added. Several vintages are vinified and aged separately in steel, blended, then left 36 months on the lees in bottle. Pale straw with green glints, a fine, steady bead, and a lasting mousse. Fruit, aromatic herbs, and honey on the nose; long and harmonious in the mouth. Serve at 6–8°C (43–46°F) as an aperitif, or with shellfish, raw fish, light soups, and fresh cheeses.

THE PRODUCER

Borgo Maragliano

Nestled high in the hills of Loazzolo in Italy’s Langhe region, Borgo Maragliano is a family-owned estate led by the Galliano family, dedicated to crafting expressive sparkling and aromatic wines that honor both tradition and place.

Perched at 450 meters above sea level, the estate’s 25 hectares of vineyards benefit from limestone-rich soils and the gentle Marin breeze, which enhances grape aromatics and preserves freshness. With deep respect for the land, Borgo Maragliano blends centuries-old methods with modern winemaking precision, producing elegant wines—most notably its celebrated Moscato d’Asti—that capture the pure, vibrant spirit of Loazzolo.
