About The Wine

Feudi di San Gregorio is Southern Italy's largest family-owned winery, founded by the Capaldo family in 1986. Across 740+ acres split among 800+ plots in Campania's volcanic highlands, they've built a reputation for turning indigenous grapes into wines that punch well above their price.

This Aglianico rosato—100% the red grape Campania is known for—comes from the highest hills of Irpinia, vineyards climbing nearly 700 meters above sea level on marly-limestone soils. Aglianico is famous for producing dark, tannic reds; here, whole-cluster pressed with zero skin contact, it yields a pale, brilliant pink with none of the weight and all of the grape's mineral backbone. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel for four months, it's built for freshness and purity.

The Tasting Panel awarded it 95 points, calling out "vibrant accents of thyme and salty lanolin… structured, yet graceful." James Suckling scored it 90, noting it's "crisp and tight."

You get blood orange, hibiscus, ripe strawberries, and citrus on the nose; the palate is all lively acidity, white flowers, and just-picked red fruit, finishing clean and persistent with that savory mineral tension high-altitude Aglianico is known for.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Aromas: Strawberry, rose petals, lanolin Vinified like a white wine with zero skin contact prior to fermentation, this 100% Aglianico declares a refreshing opening sip. Fruit from elevations of 2,300 feet above sea level are early ripeners, thanks to a fair share of sun exposure. Notes of crushed stone, raspberries, and lemon zest fill the mouth. While red berries linger, vibrant accents of thyme and salty lanolin stretch out on a structured, yet graceful path. ~95 The Tasting Panel (v.2024)

A fairly neutral nose of green apples, strawberries and peat. Light-bodied. It’s crisp and tight yet good. Drink now. ~90 James Suckling (v.2024)
