Now recognized as Grand Cru, this vintage represents the culmination of the estate’s biodynamic approach, meticulous vineyard management, and a commitment to precision winemaking.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine immediately captivates with its deep ruby garnet color and an aromatic profile that unfolds layer by layer. The nose is a delicate interplay of ripe cherries, dark berries, plums, and licorice, lifted by hints of violets, nougat, and fresh orange zest. Beneath the fruit lies an enticing mineral edge, with crushed stone and sea salt nuances adding further complexity.

On the palate, the 2022 Mangot is juicy, vibrant, and impeccably balanced. The tannins are silky yet firm, supporting flavors of red cherries, dark plums, and savory spices. Its saline minerality and fresh acidity create a sense of tension and energy, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish that lingers with a refined purity and elegance.

The 2022 Château Mangot is based on 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant Saint-Emilion offering lovely red and blue fruits, some subtle sappy herbs, celery seed, floral nuances, fine tannins, and beautiful overall balance. I always find a green, herbaceous edge in these wines, yet this certainly brings beautiful fruit and has plenty to love. I suspect it will evolve for two decades with ease. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck
