2021 Mystery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley

St. John in the Mayacamas mountain range, this wine is crafted from fruit sourced from Napa's best vineyards, including some of its most prestigious sub-appellations––Diamond Mountain, Mt. Veeder, Spring Mountain, Oakville, Atlas Peak, and Carneros. Rutherford, home to some of Napa's most sought-after wines, produces Cabernet Sauvignon with unmatched depth and richness. The valley, flanked by the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges, with its chalky, dusty soil and perfect Mediterranean climate, is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon. As André Tchelistcheff once said, “It takes Rutherford dust to grow great Cabernet.”

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This dark ruby Cabernet Sauvignon shows an intense nose of blackberry and sweet Asian spice intermixed. The wine reveals an extremely supple tannin texture with the strength and power of beautiful Napa Valley Cabernet fruit. Black pepper and blueberry fruit interplay along with a note of graphite and a subtle vanilla touch on the finish.

Winemaker Stéphane Vivier matures this Cabernet in 50% new French oak for 22 months. Fragrant dusty earth minerals, cranberry fruit laced with cinnamon spices, and hints of dried rosemary and sage. Medium-bodied with gentle tannins that glide to a spicy finish with blood orange acidity and hints of clove and cassis. ~92 Decanter
