About the Wine
Located between the Portes de Lyon and Chablis, in the heart of Cote de Beaune you’ll find Domaine Guillemard Clerc, a petit family-owned winery, that has rapidly gained the heart of the lucky few who have had the pleasure of tasting its wines. The winery is Pouilly Fuisse adjacent. The estate is literally like a stone's throw away from being labeled that AOC.
Domaine Guillemard Clerc is led by Corinne, the third generation of an important family of vignerons in France. She founded Domaine Guillemard Clerc in 2003, as an ode to her passionate ancestors.
This boutique winery owns less than 25 acres of vineyards located in 15 different appellations in Puligny and Beaune. Corinne is a meticulous winemaker, which is shown in the love and care that she impregnates to her work: The vineyard is managed with sustainable practices (HVE certified in 2020), the grapes are hand harvested and carefully selected, and they are pressed immediately to retain maximum freshness. The result is healthy wines that “show class and precision.”
Corinne has never hired an oenologist because she trusts her instincts and the traditional methods that have guided her for decades. Corinne only uses new oak in the ripest vintages, ensuring that the essence of her terroir shines through, and her barrels, sourced directly from Beaune, contribute to the long life and purity of her wines. In her own words, “winemakers have to be great equilibrists,” balancing every detail with the precision of a tightrope walker.
Tasting Notes
100% Pinot Noir. This wine has a lovely ruby color with a touch of brown, showing a bit of its age. The aroma is full of red fruits, blackcurrant, and a hint of prune, making it really inviting. When you take a sip, it feels just right—not too heavy, with smooth tannins and a nice pop of acidity, making it an easy-going and enjoyable wine to share with friends.
