Rocca di Frassinello is a joint project between Castellare di Castellina, in Chianti, and Domaines Baron de Rothschild-Lafite.

Poggio alla Guardia a benchmark wine, the third label released, from the great project of Rocca di Frassinello. But a wine with a very marked personality: spicy but very easy to drink. This wine is a wonderful introduction to the winery's other labels of great aged wines.

A blend of 40% Sangioveto, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, it's a perfect representation of Maremma on the west coast of Tuscany, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Aging: Stainless tank & Concrete Vat

Plums, chocolate, spices and herbs emerge spontaneously. Clean mineral notes outline the finish and confer an attractive element of freshness. Fantastic pizza and pasta wine.

Warm and spicy in the main matrix shows notes of black plums, wet leaves, marjoram and cumin. Full body, round tannins and a harmonious finish. Drink now. ~90 Raffaele Vecchione - WinesCritic.com
