About the Wine

After sampling hundreds of wines from Bordeaux’s 2020 vintage, including Saint-Émilion, Forbes declared the vintage “stellar,” saying the reds “have low-key but silky tannins, excellent (and in many cases, seamless) acidity/tannin/fruit integration, and generally vibrant acidity that shines a lighthouse beam on gorgeously rich, soft and often velvety fruit characteristics.”

The No. 3 d'Angelus reflects that stellar vintage. The Château is a Premier Grand Cru Cassé A estate, promoted to the coveted status in 2012. Wine critics consider the Grand Vin and Second Wines wines from the estate as some of the best wines from Saint-Émilion. Currently owned by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the Boüard family name can be traced back to the Saint-Émilion region to 1544.

No. 3 d’Angélus is crafted for immediate enjoyment upon release. It's the refined, younger sibling of its renowned counterparts. It offers pleasure while you patiently wait for the First Wine and Carillon d’Angélus to fully mature. 

The vines used for No. 3 d’Angélus receive the same meticulous care as those destined for the TOP wines, and their grapes are handled with the same precision. No. 3 d’Angélus is a charming, approachable wine that shines in its youth but can also benefit from aging.

Deep ruby, purple reflections, discreet ochre rim. Fresh, red cherry fruit and cassis are carefully underscored with vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Coming from a mix of terroirs in Saint-Emilion, the 2020 N3 D'Angelus is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, raised in 40% new barrels.
