Chateau Lascombes has the largest vineyard in the Margaux appellationwith 120 hectares under vine, with an average vine age of 35 years. The high proportion of Merlot ensures softer tanninsand allows Lascombes to be more approachable within the 8- to 10-year mark compared to many other Médoc classified wines.

2020 was a great year for the Left Bank. Vinous Media awarded this year with a 97-point review and said: "Two thousand-twenty is an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, certainly the best in the 2018-2020 trilogy. Quality is very, very high."

50% Cabernet 47% Merlot 3% Petit-Verdot. The nose is open and very expressive. As you turn the glass, the richness of the wine is revealed with ripe black fruit appearing in the foreground. Discreet oak notes flow through harmoniously in an explosion of fruit aromasThe entry into the mouth is tasty, followed by an invasion of fruit on the palate. The wine is at the same time precise, concentrated, opulent and lively. The tannins are soft and silky. The oak mingles discreetly in a beautiful fleshy mouth, while the finish is extremely long.

In this stylish wine, fruit and tannins are in harmony. Black plum flavors are richly concentrated with the firm structure. The wine is set for long-term aging. Drink from 2027. ~ 95 Wine Enthusiast

Dark fruity and intense with roasted coffee bean, meaty notes, balanced oak and a wealth of crushed dark berries. An ample and rich palate, layered in a modern and supple style with fine balance. Long and powerful finish. ~95 Andreas Larsson, Sommelier

Blackberries and spices, such as cloves and nutmeg, as well as licorice and hints of graphite. It’s full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins, yet they are polished and beautiful. Structured. Solid. ~94-95 James Suckling

A terrific success in the vintage, the 2020 Château Lascombes sports a dense purple color as well as gorgeous black and blue fruits interwoven with plenty of toasty oak. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it has velvety tannins, good mid-palate density, and beautiful overall balance. It’s one of those wines that brings plenty of ripe fruit yet always has a solid sense of elegance and purity. Tasted twice. ~92-94 Jeb Dunnuck

The 2020 Lascombes is gorgeous. Inky and deep, the 2020 is brimming with character. There is a bit less opulence than in some recent vintages, but that is not a bad thing. And plenty of inky dark fruit, leather and spice flavor. The 2020 is an attractive, mid-weight Lascombes with a good deal of richness and fine balance. Lavender, cloves, spice and new French oak linger on the suave finish. ~92-94 Antonio Galloni Vinous Media

A château that is used to finding charm and exuberance whatever the vintage, and it has avoided overly concentrated flavours. There is plenty of charm to the cassis and damson fruit but they are a little heavy through the mid palate which emphasises the grilled coffee and chocolate and adds bitter touches to the end of palate. Serious. A yield of 40hl/ha. Drinking Window 2027 - 2040 ~92 Decanter
