Their vineyards are distributed throughout 5 different regions around Sicily:Menfi, Etna, Vittoria, Noto, and Capo Milazzo, resulting in an incredibly interesting wine portfolio: Different soils, different climates, different grapes, different (and incredible) wines!  100% Fiano. A single-variety Fiano from lime-chalk soils which contribute to the enhancement of the aromatic markers of Mediterranean macchia owned by this vine. Thus, between broom flowers and thyme, the delicate aromas of chamomile, hay and mandarin can also be savored. A mineral palate with vibrantly savory traces which quiver and quench. Then the rhythm changes to become slower and more harmonious, an invitation to sip this outstanding white wine with the correct quietude enjoying its every change of tone. The finish presents a silky tactile sensation with a refined aftertaste of ripe apricot, of almond flowers and basil flowers.

A terrific production of 60,000 bottles, the Planeta 2019 Sicilia Menfi Cometa is an icon wine of Sicily and deservedly so. Fiano is simply radiant and lusciously rich in this medium-bodied expression. The 2019 vintage shaped nicely concentrated and flavorful fruit of apricot, honey and baked pear. Only 10% of the wine sees oak, but that's more than enough to render the extra depth and soft textural richness that puts this wine a cut above the other more one-dimensional interpretations of this indigenous Italian grape. ~94 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

Smoke is the first thing that comes to mind as you take in the 2019 Fiano Cometa. Musky dried peach and nectarine, crushed almonds, fennel and gorgeous yellow florals join the mix with time in the glass. This is soft and lifted, as an inner flintiness gives way to savory baked apple and wild herbal notes. There’s a deeper richness here that only cellaring will help bring fully to the surface, as this tapers off poised yet long and almost salty in character. Intense and at the same time finely defined nose, opens with notes of exotic fruits, lychee and mango, but also a lot of peach, with some lemon in the background. Very fresh at the start, juicy yellow fruit notes, present, well-integrated acidity gives tension, creamy at the end with very good weight, juicy. ~93 Falstaff
