No other American Viticultural Area in California is as synonymous with Pinot Noir as the Russian River Valley. This cuvee is cultivated from the Graton Ridge Vineyard estate as well as grapes from adjacent vineyards. The Graton Ridge Vineyard sits next door to Paul Hobbs Lindsey Estate, where wines can fetch $100+, if you can get your hands on it. These vineyards are all located on the west side of the Russian River Valley near Sebastopol. Here the fog visits nearly every day during the growing season, helping to maintain the bright acidity that balances the definitive gorgeous red fruit of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The 2018 Furthermore Pinot Noir is a beautifully balanced expression of the Russian River terroir that's guaranteed to delight your palate and fill it with wonder.
In 2006 Furthermore wines created their first two barrels of Pinot Noir. The fruit came from the Bohemian Vineyard in Freestone just a few miles from Nevina’s Vineyard, the estate vineyard in Occidental that we purchased in 2011. The Brain-child of Bob and Chad discovered their love of wine in the 90s, particularly for Pinot Noir. Thus their mission began to study how Pinot Noir expresses itself regionally throughout California, particularly in areas influenced by coastal climates. The team has grown gradually over the years, now producing about 4,000 cases annually from as far south as Santa Rita Hills, all the way up to Yorkville Highlands in Mendocino county, and many places in between. In 2015 they purchased Graton Ridge Cellars and Graton Ridge Vineyard.
In 2015 Furthermore Wines received Andre Tchelistcheff's Winemakers of the Year award.
Aging: 12 Months in 40% New French Oak
100% Pinot Noir. Rich garnet in color, dark plum, red fruit, and savory notes on the nose. Hints of oak and baking spice linger, while on the palate a fresh pop of cherry, pomegranate, and cranberry. Crisp but medium-bodied mouthfeel.
