About the Wine

Nestled in the heart of the Pouilly vineyard, Domaine de Bel Air spans fifteen hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, known locally as Blanc Fumé. This family-owned vineyard, with a heritage dating back to 1635, meticulously crafts wines that celebrate the unique terroir and climatic influences of Pouilly sur Loire and Saint Andelain.

Domaine de Bel Air's vineyards are blessed with diverse soils, including Kimmeridgian marls with oyster shell deposits, clayey limestones, and sandy limestones. These soils impart unique characteristics to the wine. The vineyard's south and southeast-facing slopes benefit from a temperate climate moderated by the Loire River, ensuring ideal conditions for the Sauvignon grape to flourish.

With thirteen generations of winemakers, Domaine de Bel Air has a rich history of passion and perseverance. From the early days of Pierre Sadon in 1635 to the modern advancements by Gérard, Katia, and Cedric, the domaine has continually evolved while honoring its traditions.

The term "fumé" or "smoked" has dual significance. It describes the smoke-colored bloom on the Sauvignon Blanc berries at maturity and the distinctive smoky, gun flint aroma derived from the terroir. This unique combination makes Pouilly-Fumé wines truly exceptional.

Tasting Notes: 100 % Sauvignon Blanc. Expect a harmonious blend of crisp fruitiness, delicate floral notes, and the signature flinty aroma characteristic of Pouilly-Fumé wines. The palate is full-bodied and balanced, with a lively, persistent finish that leaves you longing for more.
