About the Wine

“In the past two decades, Portuguese wine has been on an upward trajectory, showcasing bottlings that offer distinctive character and unmatched value.” ~Wine Spectator

Portugal has given much to talk about thanks to the exquisite, award-winning, and highly-esteemed wines that they have been producing in the past years, which are often crafted using native varieties that are difficult to find in other wine regions of the world. Thanks to this, Portugal is achieving rare, unique wines of unparalleled quality and value.

James Suckling said: “there seems to be renewed interest in wines of difference and this is where Portugal scores highly together with its outstanding price/quality ratio which I don’t believe can be found anywhere else in the world.”

Casal da Coelheira's vineyard, located in the famous region of Tejo, is made up of more than 150 acres of vineyards planted with typical varieties such as Fernão Pires, Arinto, Touriga Nacional, Aragonês, Castelão, among others.

2018 was an outstanding vintage for this region. Wine Spectator gave it a 93-points review, stating that the wines are “concentrated and powerful”.

2018 Casal da Coelheira Tinto is the perfect example of superior quality wine at an unbelievable price. This fresh, fruit-forward, elegant red wine is the perfect pairing for appetizers, tomato-based pasta, grilled salmon, and pizza.

Tasting Notes: Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouchet, Touriga Franca. The wine has an intense red color. The aroma shows great youth, with a strong presence of black fruit, and a subtle note of toasted wood nicely integrated. In the mouth, it shows the presence of ripe and elegant tannins, with good concentration and a very pleasant finish.
