Val Delle Rose emerges as a testament to the deep-rooted passion and extensive knowledge of Sangiovese. The winery's origin in the Maremma area is a testament to the enduring pursuit of excellence. With a vision that embraces both tradition and innovation, Val Delle Rose brings forth the best of the terroir and the star varietal: Sangiovese.
Back in 1996, the Cecchi family stepped in to transform Val Delle Rose. Situated in the heart of Morellino di Scansano, the winery underwent a modern makeover. This transformation was nothing short of a farming revolution, as it brought consistency and quality to new heights. The result is wines that truly reflect the spirit of the land.
Through dedicated soil studies, the potential of the terroir was unlocked. The decision was made to expand the vineyards to around 250 acres, a testament to the belief in the land's capabilities. With a focus on Sangiovese, Val Delle Rose celebrates the harmony between the soil and the vines.
Val Delle Rose is part of the esteemed Family Cecchi Group. This region is a frontier in Italian winemaking, and Val Delle Rose proudly captures its essence in every bottle.
In its fourth vintage, the year 2017 brings forth an exciting chapter for Aurelio. This recent addition to the Val delle Rose Estate collection is a source of great pride for the team. Aurelio was created to honor the remarkable quality potential of Maremma. Its name, "Aurelio," is derived from the scenic Ancient Consular Roman road that winds along the Southern Tuscany coastline. This road, named after the influential "Gens Aurelia" family, adds a touch of history and significance to this special wine.
Aging: In barrique for 12 months
100% Sangiovese. A deep, rich ruby red in color, Aurelio offers a rich bouquet of mature red fruits, intense dark spices, pepper, and chocolate. On the palate, Aurelio is supple, soft, and opulent, with velvety tannins. Very well-balanced and long finishing, Aurelio is definitely a standard bearer for the Maremma Toscana DOC
The sensorial setting of this young wine made in Maremma is precise and of remarkable workmanship. Full body, opulent, and broad-shouldered, the center of the palate shows well-ripened round tannins and a solid and compact finish. Delicious and well done in a difficult vintage in Tuscany and beyond. Better from 2021. ~93 WinesCritic.com
Cherries and hints of citrus fruit and plums. It’s full-bodied with round tannins and a fruity finish. Tight, fresh and concentrated for the vintage. Drink after 2022. ~93 James Suckling
