About The Wine

Have you ever traveled to Southern Italy and the Amalfi Coast? If so, this is the wine you want to bring home to recall your travels through Oenotria.
Consider the world-famous food produced in this region: Mozzarella di Bufala, Pizza, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh fish and anchovies, and much more. Donnaluna is the wine you'll find served by the glass at many of the most famous restaurants in the area. Serve it lightly chilled.

The De Conciliis Estate is located in the beautiful Paestum region of Campania. Until a few years ago, a few large producers dominated the market for Campania wine. De Conciliis is part of the wave of small producers making wines of superior quality. The de Conciliis family has produced wine for decades for local consumption.

This Aglianico comes from 7-8 vineyards. Stainless steel tank fermentation for 20-30 days, followed by a 1-2 week maceration. Wine is aged in stainless steel and then released to the market after an additional 3 months bottle aging.

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 90% Aglianico, 10% Primitivo. Dark ruby color with intense aromas of violets and licorice. On the palate, the wine is quite complex with a long, velvety finish. Drink now or cellar for 5 years. Pairs perfectly with game, roasts, meat ragu, and pizza.

Reviews

The 2017 Donnaluna Aglianico presents a dark and spicy mix of crushed black fruits, infused with smoky minerals, hints of olive, and savory herbs. On the palate, silky textures flood the senses with a beautiful display of ripe blackberry, offset by hints of citrus, with saline-minerals and dark inner florals, as brisk acids maintain a wonderfully fresh expression. The finish is long and savory, tugging at the senses with youthful tannin, yet remaining energetic, as black fruits and savory spices slowly fade, leaving dark inner floral tones in their wake. This is balanced to a tee, giving pleasure already but able to excel over the medium term in the cellar. Another great Aglianico from De Conciliis. ~93VM
