In the world of wine, Burgundy generates the majority of its taste and experience from the complex aromatics that lift out of the glass. Compared to Bordeaux, where the wines are bold and tannic, Burgundy displays great finesse, elevated acidity, wines that provide a sensual experience. Burgundy is full of character and is a representation of one family's work and passion. There's no better example of this on BHW than the 2017 single vineyard from Arthur Barolet. Ever wonder what makes Burgundy so great? It's the people behind the wine that spread their passion and vision, one bottle at a time. Take a sip of the life and times of Arthur Barolet.
In 1830, Arthur Barolet founded a small family business in Beaune, the capital of Burgundy. At first Barolet wines rarely found themselves in any export markets and were only known by a small number of connoisseurs. His grandson, also known as Arthur, left medicine and Paris in 1920, to take care of the family business. Today, the quality and the tradition established by the former owners continued in the 19th-century cellars of the Savigny-lès-Beaune based Domaine. The House owns a variety of prestigious vineyards including a handful of 1er Cru vineyards and the renowned Grands Echezeaux.
The family also works with respected growers in the best vintages and selects high-quality grapes to produce outstanding burgundy. Arthur Barolet & fils offers a range of Burgundy wines including in particular Chablis, Côte de Beaune, and Côte de Nuits.
