“Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is One of Europe’s Historic Red Wines” ~Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
This appellation, which by the way, was the first Italian Denominazione di Origine Controllata, was also the favorite wine of some of the most influential Popes, Kings, and Presidents of Italy. It was named "The King of All Wines" by the illustrious Italian poet Francesco Redi and “Vino Perfettissimo” by Pope Paul III.
Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano is a cooperative founded in 1937 by 14 expert winemakers. Since then, the entire operation has been directed by specialists, from the vineyard to the winery. Today, there are more than 400 members, all united in search of one goal: To achieve affordable, extraordinary wines that truly represent the terroir.
“Being a member means learning from tradition, guided at all times by respect for our territory and keeping the future constantly in mind.” ~ President, Mario Marchi.
This cooperative has more than 2,400 acres of vineyards that are strategically placed in some of the most iconic regions of Siena and Arezzo in Tuscany and Perugia in Umbria. Thanks to its different locations, Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano has a wide range of different and extraordinary wines.
Tasting Notes: This wine is fresh, vibrant, and exciting. Full of aromas of berries, cherries, spices, and licorice. Elegant and polished on the palate; Medium-bodied and well defined with fine tannins and bright acidity. Pair this wine with grill and roasted meats like beef, lamb, or duck.

The dark-berry and mushroom aromas and flavors are very attractive. Cracked black pepper, too. Medium body. Light tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now. ~91 James Suckling.
