About the Wine

There are few wine regions in the world as esteemed as Tuscany. To quote Wine Enthusiast “Tuscany is a hotbed for tasty red wines”. This wine is no exception!

The history of Castelli del Grevepesa is thrilling; is a story of a stubborn and visionary man. It all started in 1965 when founder, Gualtiero Armando Nunzi was seeking to protect the centuries-old winemaking traditions of the region while achieving reputable wines worldwide. The objective was very clear from the beginning: "Produce high-quality wines in compliance with the strict regulations of the law and of the Consorzio del Chianti Classico, operating careful grape selection and a rigorously controlled vinification process." This cooperative was founded with 18 different vinegrowers and today it is made up of more than 120!

The company’s symbol is an Iris, which represents the tenacity of the cooperative and the strong ties with the Florentine tradition.

All the 120 producers are located in the best areas of Tuscany. Every single vineyard is directed by expert agronomists who have strict quality protocols in order to achieve the optimal development of the grapes. The wines reflect the terroir, the history, and the expertise of all the hands involved. Castelli del Grevepesa delivers excellent wines at an excellent value.

2016 Castelli di Grevepesa Clemente VII "Settimo" Toscana IGT is produced with meticulously care in the vineyard, harvesting by hand and a careful individual bunch selection. The wine is aged for 15 months in French Oak Barrels.

Tasting Notes: 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot, 25% Syrah. Very intense, bright ruby red color. This wine has a rich and sophisticated bouquet. Excellent balance of wood and wine tannins to create a sapid, complex flavor with a persistent aftertaste. Pairs perfectly with roasted and grilled red meat and mature cheeses.
