Château Grand Village is a charming Bordeaux estate where the Guinaudeau family has been making wine since 1962. Nestled in the beautiful Fronsac region, this vineyard is the beloved home of the same family behind the legendary Château Lafleur in Pomerol.
The Guinaudeau family's wine journey began in 1872 with Château Lafleur. Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau took over in 1984, making it their own in 2001. Their wines, often praised by critics like Robert Parker, have a reputation for excellence.Their wine and commercial consultants are no other than ICONIC Christian Moueix (Dominus owner)
In 2002, Jacques and Sylvie’s son Baptiste and his partner Julie joined the team, bringing fresh ideas and passion. Together, they've raised the bar at Grand Village, treating it with the same care as Château Lafleur.
If you want to experience the Guinaudeau family's winemaking brilliance without the high price tag of Château Lafleur, Grand Village is your go-to. This wine punches well above its Bordeaux Supérieur label, offering an exciting taste of Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
2015 was an iconic year for Bordeaux. Vinous Media blessed this vintage with a 97 point review and said: "Bordeaux enjoyed its strongest vintage in a number of years in 2015. The warm, dry summer yielded opulent wines built on intense fruit and voluptuous textures. At their best, the 2015s are spectacularly rich, racy wines loaded with personality. On the Right Bank, the wines are intense and, at times, freakishly concentrated."
Aging: 15 months in French oak barrels (with 33% new oak)
75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine bursts with fresh black cherries, plums, and a touch of forest floor. It’s charming and perfect for enjoying now, but also has the potential to age gracefully.
Bright ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle brightening of the edges. Delicately peppery-spicy nuances of heart cherries, fresh wild berries, a touch of citrus zest. Juicy, elegant, present tannins, a hint of chocolate, a hint of dried fruit, powerful accompaniment to food. ~92-94 Falstaff
~92 Tim Atkin, Master of Wine
Silky and lush, the fruits are ripe, sweet and pure. The wine is round, medium bodied and displays sweet red cherries and licorice at its core. You can drink this with pleasure now, or age it for a few years. ~90 The Wine Cellar Insider
