About the Wine

Bodegas Tapiz has consistently produced highly awarded and high scoring wines. These wines represent some of the best QPR (quality price ratio) wines that we taste year after year. Everyone loves high quality at great value pricing, and this is a fabulous wine for any time.

Founded in 2003 by former Medical Doctor Patricia Ortiz, her goal was to create terroir-driven wines with a strong sustainable commitment to the land and its people. Located in San Pablo, Uco Valley, at the foothill of the Andes Mountain Bodegas Tapiz State-of-the-Art winery sits in the heart of one of the highest vineyards in this region. In 2012, the Legendary Jean-Claude Berrouet (44 years as the head winemaker of Petrus) joined the team as a consulting winemaker. Since Berrouet transitioned from producing the $2000 Petrus to $20 Tapiz, the estate has received critical acclaim for their high-altitude wines becoming one of Argentina's primer producers!

The 2015 Tapiz Alta Collection Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the high altitude San Pablo Estate of the Uco Valley in Mendoza (4,430 Feet). Characterized by cold nights due to the proximity of the mountains and altitude, it gives wines of great intensity in color, aroma, and structure, destined for premium and aged wines.

Bodegas Tapiz maintains Global Gap Certified vineyards and recently received the Gold Medal at BRIT’S 2017 International Award of Excellence in Sustainable Winegrowing Competition as well as the Drink's Business Green Awards 2017 - The Amorim Sustainability Award.

Tasting notes: Red wine. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine of intense ruby color. Aromas and flavors of fresh red and black fruits, with notes of plum jam that provide complexity. The delicate notes of eucalyptus accompany the fruit. The oak provides notes of coffee beans, vanilla, and chocolate. Friendly and with a long finish.

Reviews

This is a fantastic wine for the vintage with a clarity and brightness on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a delicious finish. 2015 was a tough year for Argentina but this is a beautiful wine. ~93 James Suckling
