If you’re still drinking Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, know that the cool cats are drinking this. Pinot Grigio derives its genetics from Pinot Blanc. This is this OG and Trimbach is one of the best producers of this grape in the world. This is their best bottling of Pinot Blanc.
Trimbach is one of the Top Alsace producers. They produce the highest-quality premium Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines, which constantly achieve great accolades. If you want to discover the true power and aging capacity of a high-quality Gewurztraminer, Maison Trimbach should be at the top of your list. This Maison is crafting some of the most exceptional white wines in the world.
Wine Spectator said, “In Alsace, although most wines tend to be dry and fuller-bodied than their German counterparts, Trimbach's house style is quite the opposite: graceful and intense, with an austere character.”
This Maison has been around since the 16th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.
Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality.
The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.
Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.
Produced only in exceptional years, this wine comes from selected parcels in the Grand Cru Osterberg and Wiebaum Vineyard in Ribeauvillé. It boasts great maturity and opulence, with rich, succulent fruit.
2010 was an outstanding vintage in Alsace. Vinous Media blessed this year with a 95pt review and said, "Most likely, the 2010 vintage will prove to be one of the greatest all time vintages of Alsace wines, on a par with legendary years such as 1961, 1967, 1971, 1976, 1983, 1989 and 1990."
100% Pinot Gris. Very ripe and harmonious style, rich with yellow juicy peaches on the nose as well as ripe pears: full-bodied with ripe smoky tropical fruit flavors and a long, slightly nutty finish. Rich and fragrant.
The subtlest notes of earth and honey suggest an evolving wine. The palate takes these further and wraps them up in fruit flavors that owe as much to lemon zest as they do to the peel of pear and russet apple. There is focus and poise on the palate and real tension between toned, muscular fruit and sprightly freshness. This is just coming out of its shell. Drink 2016–2026.~93 Wine Enthusiast
Medium greenish yellow. Fully ripe notes of pear “Gute Louise”, underlined with hints of fresh honey. Some honey again on the palate, sweet and persistent, the residual sugar is well counteracted by a strong acidity, overall supported by fine minerality, secure aging potential for many years. ~93 Falstaff
