About the Wine

The Champagne house of Godmé was established in 1930 by Michèle and Bertrand Godmé. Sabine and her brother Hugues divided the 11-hectare estate into equal parts. Today Sabine Godmé and her husband Jean Marie Guillaume represent the 4th generation. All the viticulture here is sustainable and on average 30% of the primary fermentation is done in barrel. The estate is located in the heart of Montagne de Reims, specifically in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay. They also own vineyards in the Grand Cru village Beaumont-Sur-Vesle and Verzy as well as the Premier Cru villages of Villers-Marmery and Montbré. These are Champagnes that allow the nuance of the Grand Cru and Premier Cru terroir to really be the focus and are not over manipulated.

Reviews

A Champagne that revels in its crisp, textured Chardonnay, this is on the dry side, with fine acidity and tangy citrus as well as green apples. Three years of bottle aging before disgorgement has allowed hints of maturity to just begin to show and to create a fine balance in the wine. Drink now. ~91 Wine Enthusiast
