The two grand crus are superb. The garnet-colored Echezeaux exhibits more aromatic dimension, but neither the depth nor muscle of the Clos de Vougeot. The nose is dominated by floral and black-raspberry notes. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins, excellent concentration, and a long, rich, alcoholic finish. Drinkable now, it should continue to evolve gracefully over the next decade.
