Campo del Titari means “Vineyard of Titari”, who was the horse that the owner and winemaker Luigi played with when he was a young boy, around 1960. The horse was free to go and always run in the highest parcel and more separated from the other vineyards. Years later, when Luigi decided to vinify this specific vineyard separately from the other vineyards, he also thought of the characteristics that the wine and the horse had in common. Not just elegance and power, but also the darkness, like the shiny black mantle of the horse, the vivacity like his eyes, some aromas like tobacco and leather, like the seat of the horse. Many elements, which brought Luigi the memory of his horse. This wine is an ode to that majestic stead.

The vineyard is located at an altitude of 450m and composed of unique minerals, rich in limestone and rocks. The vineyard is also well exposed to the breezes coming from Lake Garda and from the hills at North, which favors healthy conditions for the vines.

Luigi Brunelli - vine grower, winemaker, and craftsman - creates, with his own hands and with the help of his family, products that are refined and of incomparable character and quality. Luigi is convinced that each of his wines tells a story: a story of pleasure and of unique fascination and emotions. The choice to work without compromise is the result of the firm belief that the quality of a wine is created, at first, in the vineyard. The parcels have been carefully developed so as to contain only the main indigenous grape varieties of the Valpolicella area (such as Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta) and to recover venerable native grapes sometimes fallen into disuse, reinterpreted with modern techniques and trained by using the Double Low Pergola and Espalier systems.

This wine displays a deep, rich, opaque ruby color. The intense and charming bouquet reveals notes of red fruits like cherries, raspberries, and redcurrants, mingling with faint hints of vanilla. Aromas of roasted coffee beans, aromatic tobacco and leather, cloves, and licorice come afterward. On the palate, it unleashes a powerful and robust structure, accompanied, though, by elegant acidity. The finish is very long and echoes the sensations one perceived on the nose. The blend is Corvina 65%, Rondinella 25, and the rare Oseleta 10%. The wine aged for 48 months French barrique + 12 months bottle aging. 16.5% ABV, but the wine doesn't taste alcoholic. Truly a tour de force and benchmark from the region.

On the nose, this is all about the eclectic array of spices on offer, ranging from cumin to saffron to dried ginger and cardamom. But don’t miss the dried plums and berries that frolic with the attractive cedary and tarry accents. There’s tremendous tannin grip here, which more than manages to latch on to the dense, ripe cherries and turn them steely and rather edgy. The finish is decadent, but long and graceful. A delight to drink now, but better in 2025. ~95 James Suckling
