About the Wine

“The best grape-growing region in Napa Valley you’ve probably never heard of is Pritchard Hill”. ~Wine Enthusiast

Introducing the 2017 Sarah Francis Cabernet Sauvignon Sage Ridge Pritchard Hill, a wine that transcends time and place, crafted with passion and dedication by the esteemed winemaker herself.

This extraordinary wine comes from the epic Pritchard Hill region. Wine Enthusiast calls it the under-the-radar subregion, is fast becoming the trendiest address in Napa Valley for red wines.”This region is producing some of the most profound wines in Napa Valley. They're rich, deep, and have a lasting taste that'll leave you impressed.

Sarah Francis’ vineyard is one that traces its roots back to a vineyard steeped in tradition and legacy. Once part of a 300-acre parcel planted in 1895 by the visionary Mrs. Thomas Rutherford, this hallowed ground became the cornerstone of Napa Valley winemaking.

Acquired by Georges de Latour, founder of Beaulieu Vineyard, in 1928, it earned the moniker Beaulieu Vineyard Number 3. Under his stewardship, and guided by the expertise of renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, this vineyard flourished, producing the iconic Rutherford Cabernets that garnered widespread acclaim in the 1960s and 70s.

In 1988, a new chapter began with the acquisition of the vineyard by Beckstoffer Vineyards. Recognizing its potential, Beckstoffer embarked on a journey of revitalization, replanting the vineyard with new Cabernet Sauvignon clones and implementing innovative trellising systems. These advancements not only enhanced the quality of the grapes but also increased grape tonnage, ensuring a bountiful harvest year after year.

Handcrafted with meticulous care, the 2017 Sage Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the essence of its terroir with every sip. Nestled at 1400 ft elevation, overlooking the illustrious Pritchard Hill, the Sage Ridge Vineyard yields grapes of unparalleled quality. Each cluster, meticulously tended by hand, embodies the essence of mountain terroir, resulting in a wine of extraordinary depth and complexity.
