Nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, the Trentino-Alto Adige region is a land of breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Trentino, with its stunning blend of Alpine woods, valleys, rivers, and lakes, offers a fresh sense of balance and well-being.This scenic area is a mecca for skiers, hikers, cyclists, and lovers of amazing cuisine that is influenced by the Austro-Hungarian history in NE Italy. Thanks to its high-altitude vineyards, unique climate conditions that are highly influenced by the Dolomite Mountains, and the closeness to the Adige River, this region is blessed with an outstanding terroir. A terroir that delivers, in James Suckling’s words, “extremely bright and fresh wines that offer extraordinary value without breaking the bank.”
The region, historically part of the medieval ecclesiastical principalities of Trento and Bressanone, is known for its majestic peaks, including the Dolomites and the Ortles and Adamello groups. The diverse terrain, with elevations above 3,000 feet, contributes to the unique characteristics of its wines. The primary rivers, including the Adige, Isarco, Noce, and Avisio, flow through fertile valleys, providing ideal conditions for viticulture.
Cavit, an acronym for Cantina Viticoltori del Trentino, is a cooperative that represents 11 wineries and 5,260 associated winegrowers in Trentino. Established in 1950, Cavit has grown into a reference point for wine production in the region. The cooperative's headquarters are in Ravina di Trento, and their representation site, Maso Toresella, is surrounded by vineyards near Lake Toblino. Cavit collaborates with the San Michele all’Adige Agricultural Institute and other research centers, ensuring high-quality wines through traditional farming wisdom, advanced agronomy, and cutting-edge technology.
The PICA Project, an integrated communications and technology system, exemplifies Cavit’s commitment to sustainable winegrowing. This project supports agronomists and winegrowers by identifying ideal grape varieties, ensuring strict vineyard controls, and optimizing resources through precision agriculture.
Under the guidance of Technical Director Andrea Faustini, Cavit's Viticulture Group assists winegrowers in achieving the best results while adhering to sustainable practices. All Cavit members are certified under the SQNPI (National Integrated Production Quality System), reflecting their commitment to environmental stewardship.
The 2017 Cavit Bottega Vinai Pinot Noir is a notable example of the Bottega Vinai line, which embodies the distinct regional identities of Trentino. This line represents the region’s most significant geographical areas, including the Piana Rotaliana and the hills of Trento, showcasing wines with strong territorial character and evocative appeal.
Produced under the Trentino DOC appellation, this Pinot Noir benefits from the region’s optimal grape-growing conditions, characterized by its mountainous terrain, diverse soils, and favorable climate.
100% Pinot Noir. Ruby red color with brick-red nuances that deepen with age. It features a broad aromatic spectrum, highlighting notes of cherry, sour cherry, cooked plum, spices, and tobacco. The wine is velvety and harmonious, with a well-balanced structure. As it ages, it develops greater roundness, fullness, and complexity, making it a versatile choice that pairs exceptionally well with red meats served with polenta, grilled meats, hearty stews, and casseroles.
