At Vignalta, they understand that great wine begins with excellent fruit in the vineyard. They meticulously explore different areas to cultivate various grape varieties, allowing their wines to express the diverse facets of the various cultivation zones. Two standout examples are the volcanic-soiled Mount Gemola vineyards and the sedimentary limestone flakes of Arquà Petrarca, yielding the "Gemola" and "Arquà" wines, each showcasing the influence of its unique terroir.

A dusting of cocoa gives way to crushed ashen stone, grilled sage, cedar spice box and rum-soaked black cherries as the 2016 Rosso Gemola captivates the senses. This is a model of elegance, velvety smooth with depths of dark red fruit, coming across as exotic yet refined, as saturation of minerals adds contrast toward the close. The 2016 finishes long with a coating of fine tannins that tug at the palate as balsamic tones mix with wild sour citrus and inner rose. Bury these bottles deep in the cellar. The Rosso Gemola is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc raised in the volcanic soils of Colli Euganei and refines for 36 months in new French oak tonneaux. ~94 Vinous Media
Clear, deep dark garnet red with black-red reflections. On the nose there are fine spicy notes, lots of black pepper, sloes and some lacquer, as well as dark leather and meat. Shows dense structure in the drink, interwoven, tightly meshed, presses the palate again in the back part and resonates extensively. ~93 Falstaff
