A true Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Toby (Tobias) Forman crafts an exceptional wine from a convergence and depth of knowledge. In the vineyard, an agronomy master, and in the cellar, wine-making teachings handed down from his father Ric Forman, culminate in his own elegant, muscular expressive style of wine-making. For years the Formans have been producing some of Napa's most food-friendly Cabs that have caught the eye of critics from all circles. We've scored this cult cabernet at an unbelievable price and can't wait for you to discover the magic of Tobias Vineyards.
If Ric Forman's name doesn't ring a bell, you've certainly heard of Sterling Vineyards. Ric made the wines there for years. He later cofounded Newton winery.
Nestled near the peak of Howell Mountain, perched high above the fog line of the Napa Valley, the Forman family farms a distinctive volcanic 43-acre estate, with 20 unique blocks, to craft exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. With the knowledge of farming, viticulture, & winemaking, handed down over three generations and two iconic families, their commitment and passion are unparalleled.
With a near-perfect season, the vines started moderately early in 2016 and continued to enjoy ideal weather conditions in the spring, throughout the summer and fall. Cooler temperatures in August, both night-time and day-time, provided an extended hang time, allowing the fruit to reach peak ripeness and vineyard expression - perfect for inky, complex wines.
The turbulent growing seasons for upcoming Napa vintages, 2019 and 2020 have produced more questions than answers. The quality of these wines will be heavily scrutinized and reviewed under every critic's microscope. The time is ripe to stock up on quality vintages like2015, 2016, and 2018. The opportunities to capture wines from previous years are limited.
Aging: 24 months in 50% new French Oak.
