About the Winery
The Geophysicist in Todd Anderson, owner and winemaker of Anderson Conn, saw the potential in his land in 1982 when he and his father came to scout in Napa. The Meyer's of Silver Oak Vineyard gave them the first of their budwood - The Bonny’s Vineyard clone (located in Block One). Their second vintage was featured on the cover of Wine Spectator.
Their vineyard is meticulously planted into blocks where the clones match the soils perfectly to give the wines a very deliberate tannin structure that showcases the wine's fruit in perfect harmony.
The winery uses no less than fifty different types of barrels and will often co-ferment the clones depending on the year. They are proud to say that their wine is free from the use of osmosis machines, chemicals, additives, oak chips and extracts...just these grapes, these barrels and nothing else.
Reviews
Deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is a little closed to begin, slowly revealing fresh blackberries, blackcurrants and black plums notes with touches of eucalypt, cinnamon stick, roses and fertile soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling black fruits with plenty of spicy accents and a pleasantly chewy finish.~94 WA
Starting out, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is the least expensive cuvée and spent 22 months in 55% new French oak. It offers a classic Cabernet nose of blackcurrants, new saddle leather, lead pencil, and dried tobacco. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, supple, elegant wine that has loads of charm and character. It’s a beautiful wine that will keep for 15 years or more. ~93 JD
