About the Wine

Estee Hill Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Coombsville, one of the most coveted appellations in Napa Valley. The terroir is magical, characterized by its cooler climate compared to other parts of Napa Valley resulting in complex flavors and balanced acidity in the wines. Some very iconic names in wine have found their perfect home here, including Meteor Vineyard ($200/bottle) and Porter Vineyards ($100/bottle).

Estee Hill is the culmination of a joint venture between Dan Sakai and Muna Soltan. Dan Sakai, a native of Napa Valley, grew up surrounded by the vineyards of Calistoga. While pursuing his education in Biochemistry and Botany at UC Davis, he discovered his true calling was in the vineyards of Napa Valley. With guidance from the region's top vineyard managers, Dan honed the art of grape cultivation.

In 2012, Dan stumbled into winemaking when a client asked for his help to make wine on their estate, this was the start of Dan's remarkable winemaking adventure. Combining his scientific knowledge from UC Davis with practical experience, Dan's very first creation, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, earned a gold medal in the Winemaker Magazine's wine competition. It was clear that Dan had a deep passion for the science of winemaking.

In 2013, Dan joined forces with Muna, a retired dentist from Southern California, who was a frequent visitor to Napa Valley and in 2004, fell in love with the Estee Hill property. It was here that she crossed paths with Dan. Together, they cared for Tuscan olive trees and other plantations. In 2013, Muna and Dan established a winemaking facility and sought out a wine consultant. Muna and Dan transformed a small outbuilding into a winemaking room, where they crafted wines sourced from the Estee Hill property. Their commitment to excellence in winemaking led them to establish their own business, with the guidance of Dean Sylvester, who joined them in 2016.

Dean Sylvester, originally from Upstate New York, studied winemaking at UC Davis and embarked on a journey that included prestigious wineries such as Newton Vineyards, William Harrison Winery, and Chimney Rock Winery. Dean spent 18 years as the winemaker at Whitehall Lane Winery in St. Helena.

The name "Estee" embodies grace, beauty, and allure, much like the wines produced at Estee Hill. They specialize in producing only the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in very limited quantities.

The 2015 vintage in Napa Valley was absolutely epic! It scored 97 points from Wine Advocate. This is the kind of vintage you'll want to save and enjoy later. But guess what? Later is NOW, and after 8 years, it's the perfect time to pop it open and enjoy!

Aging: 75% new oak for 24 months.

Tasting Notes: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. This wine showcases an exquisite interplay of flavors and aromas. Its soft, velvety tannins provide a luxurious texture, while the rich fruitiness bursts forth with ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, layered with hints of vanilla and cedar. This wine's exceptional depth and structure make it a true testament to the artistry of Napa Valley winemaking, promising a remarkable evolution in the cellar over the years, as it gracefully matures into a true masterpiece.
