Château Teyssier rests in one of the most privileged terroirs of Bordeaux and without a doubt one of the most acclaimed wine regions in the entire world. This Château is right in the heart of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and just over 3 miles from the famous Saint-Emilion's First Classified Château Angelus, a wine that can be found at more than $300/bottle (depending on the vintage.)
Nonetheless, Château Teyssier is much more than a privileged terroir. This estate is one of the oldest and most prosperous Châteaux in the area dating back to the 18th century; in fact, in the 19th century, it was the largest wine producer on the Right Bank.
Jonathan Maltus a.k.a “the cult winemaker” is the owner and mastermind behind Château Teyssier. Jonathan is a Rockstar in the wine industry, who also produces high-end, award-winning wines like Chateau Le Dome (compare at $200/btl), Le Carre, Les Asteries, and Vieux Chateau Mazerat in Bordeaux, as well as Worlds End in Napa Valley. But geniuses don't work alone, Jonathan has as his right-hand man and wine consultant, none other than Gilles Pauquet, Château Cheval Blanc's former winemaker.
Everything in Château Teyssier screams greatness. The vineyard is made up of more than 120 acres, which are mostly planted with the queen grapes of the Right Bank, Merlot, and Cab Franc. And since the year 2000, the vinification area and cellar have been renovated and modernized with state-of-the-art technology and managed with the highest quality standards.
The 2015 vintage in Saint-Emilion is one to stock up on. This year received multiple 95+ scores from major wine critics. Vinous Media awarded this year a 97 score and said, "Bordeaux enjoyed its strongest vintage in a number of years in 2015. The 2015s are spectacularly rich, racy wines loaded with personality. On the Right Bank, the wines are intense and, at times, freakishly concentrated. The best 2015s on the Right Bank are superb."
