As winter weather settles in, we want to share essential tips to ensure your wine arrives in perfect condition:
1. Shipping During Freezing Conditions:
- Neither UPS nor FedEx insures packages against freezing weather.
- If temperatures in your state stay below freezing for extended periods, we offer free winter storage. Contact us if you'd like to use this option.

For immediate shipping during freezing conditions, consider upgrading to overnight, 2-day, or 3-day air for an additional fee. Contact us at sales@bighammerwines.com for a quote.
2. Optimal Delivery Practices:
- Ship to a business or third-party location (UPS/CVS or FedEx/Walgreens) where your package will be received on the first delivery attempt.
- Missed first delivery attempts significantly increase the risk of freezing.
3. Temperature Restrictions:
- If temperatures fall below 25°F between San Diego and your destination, we may delay shipment until conditions improve.
- Our warehouse manager, Ricardo, carefully monitors national weather patterns to schedule safe deliveries, typically shipping on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid weekend delays.
4. Stay Updated:
- Ensure our emails land in your inbox so you receive tracking details promptly.
- Follow your shipment's progress to coordinate a smooth delivery.
5. Proactive Measures:
- Always have an adult available to sign for the delivery, as couriers require it.
