About Louis Latour
The Latours have been vintners in Burgundy since the 17th century, slowly building a unique Domaine of 125 acres. Maison Louis Latour currently has the largest Grand Cru property in all of the Cote d’Or with a total of 71.58 acres. The vineyards extend from Chambertin in the north to Chevalier-Montrachet in the south and are solely planted with the two noble grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All of the grapes from the vineyards we own are vinified and aged in the attractive cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning.
What Makes Louis Latour So Exceptional?
A unique rail-way system with elevators allows the entire wine-making process to be achieved by the use of gravity. This eliminates the threat of oxidation from unnecessary pumping of the must. Since 1985, Louis Latour has been selling the wines from its own vineyards under the name Domaine Louis Latour. The Latour family founded the ‘Maison de négoce’, an important shipping company, in 1797, and it is still based at 18 Rue des Tonneliers in Beaune to this day. The company is unique in Burgundy in that it is still family-owned and family-run, having been passed down from father to son for over ten generations.

Over time, Maison Louis Latour has set an ideal of perfection in our winemaking. For two centuries, over 100 appellations have been crafted with the greatest of care each year, to reveal all their complexity.
Although equipped with the most modern tools and equipment, the winemaking methods remain simple and traditional. The Louis Latour style is an auspicious combination of the richness of nature and the skill of man's labour. We respect the natural rhythm of the vines and make our wines in harmony with their nature, with the aim of offering full expression to the elegance and the balance of the great terroirs of Burgundy.

From the heart of their domaine on the Corton hillside, Maison Louis Latour have witnessed more than two centuries of Burgundian history.
Founded in 1797 Maison Louis Latour has survived the ages and has become a natural custodian of Burgundy's ancient traditions. Authentic and determinedly independent, the House has always made it a point of honour to remain family owned. It is now run by the seventh Louis Latour who represents the 11th generation of the founding family, who like each generation before him, has worked hard to preserve the company's unique heritage whilst ensuring the future with an ambitious and visionary spirit.
The Latour family Domaine has been built up over the years with patience and determination, and today, covers 50 hectares of exceptional vineyard which are recognised each vintage for the quality of their wines.
Our Domaine wines, like those from the négociant side of our business, are profoundly influenced by their origin. They are vinified and aged with care in the traditional style of the House, with elegance and finesse. Louis Latour's famous logo is our sign of quality and is placed on the many of bottles that are shipped around the world each year. We strive for perfection in everything we do to in order to meet the demands and expectations of our customers.
