About the Wine 

Aurore de Dauzac Margaux is the second wine from the 5^th Growth Classified, Château Dauzac.This wine is crafted with vines located on a special geological vein, with soils composed of fine gravel and sand. The result is a spectacular, crispy, and intensely fruity wine.

This Château dates from 1190, when Pétrus d'Auzac inherited the land from Richard I, King of England. Over the years, the superb wines from Dauzac began to acquire an excellent reputation, becoming one of the favorites of the aristocracy. This led them to be recognized as the 5th Growth Grand Cru Classe in the Official Bordeaux Classification of 1855. 

Later in 1924, the Château passed into the hands of the same owners of the 2nd Growth Ducru-Beaucaillou. It was thanks to this family that Château Dauzac adopted the yellow color on its labels, a strong identity that is preserved to this day.

Throughout history, Château Dauzac has passed through different owners, from French businessmen to insurance companies. All of them have achieved important strides within the vineyard, winemaking, and cellar, and all these efforts are clearly shown in the result of the outstanding wines that are produced at Château Dauzac to this day. As of 2020, it became the property of the successful French businessman, Christian Roulleau.

The Dauzac vineyard is made up of more than 120 acres, of which 111 are in the Margaux appellation and the rest are located in the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vineyards are mostly made up of Cab Sauvignon, followed by Merlot and Petit Verdot. Château Dauzac has started to implement biodynamic principles, in addition to highly integrated agriculture and organic practices. 

Éric Boissenot is the Rockstar wine consultant of this Château. He consults at forty of the Classified Châteaux including Lafite, Margaux, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Leoville Las Cases, and Ducru Beaucaillou.

2020 was a great year for the Left Bank. Vinous Media awarded this year with a 97-point review and said: "Two thousand-twenty is an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, certainly the best in the 2018-2020 trilogy. Quality is very, very high."

Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels. 

Tasting Notes: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot. Garnet with violet reflections. The expression of the slightly floral red fruit is delicate. The palate is round and supple on the attack, with beautiful, very balanced concentration with notes of refined black fruits. A good length that stays fresh. This wine pairs beautifully with White meats, game, red meats, and cheeses.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, firm core, soft brightening on the rim. Floral, blackberries, a touch of licorice, subtle notes of nougat underneath. Juicy cherries on the palate, subtle notes of plums, elegant, subtle sweetness, ripe tannins, long-lasting, with aging potential. ~92 Falstaff

On the nose it is fruity, fresh, and a certain richness (in balance), a certain compact of the fruit, a little intensity as well as a fine grain. It reveals the notes of bright black cherry, bright purple plum, and more lightly crushed blackberry combined with fine hints of fresh strawberry/blackberry, violet, fresh lilac, and plum blossom as well as fine hints of licorice, cardamom, a discrete hint of saffron, tea, spice and an imperceptible hint of bergamot. The palate is fruity, a bit tight, and offers juiciness, freshness, gourmandize, good definition, energy, some tension, precision, power, roundness/fat and a well-conducted tannic frame. The wine expresses the notes of pulpy/blushing cherry, violet, and more slightly bright blackberry associated with touches of violet plum, small crushed red currants as well as hints of licorice, violet, lilac, tea, sweet spices, a very discreet hint of almond and an imperceptible almost iodine-like touch.
