The vineyard fruit in these wines is considered among the finest in all of Napa. The winemaking hand is that of one of the finest winemakers in all of Bordeaux. The result is a Napa Valley Cab that is decidedly Bordeaux in character. This is not a hit you over the head with oak and fruit. This a more nuanced and balanced Cab that will leave you beguiled and reaching back again and again for another glass.

World's End, the audacious Napa Valley venture of renowned Bordeaux winemaker Jonathan Maltus, offers a unique perspective on Californian winemaking. The name "World's End" is a nod to the Chelsea district in London, where Maltus once lived.

Jonathan Maltus a.k.a “the cult winemaker” is a Rockstar in the wine industry, who also produces high-end, award-winning wines in Bordeaux like Chateau Le Dome (compare at $200/btl), Le Carre, Les Asteries, and Vieux Chateau Mazerat in Bordeaux.

World's End sources its grapes from some of Napa Valley's most prestigious vineyards, including those owned by legendary grower Andy Beckstoffer (AKA “Napa’s most powerful grape grower” by both the Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator),To Kalon Missouri Hooper, Vineyard D Missouri Hooper, Vineyard B Circle S, Georges III Carneros Lake Vineyard, Pritchard Hill, and the Stagecoach Vineyard. These prime locations contribute significantly to the exceptional quality of his wines.

World’s End If Six was 9 is a Jimi Hendrix track from his second LP, Axis Bold as Love.

2018 was a Napa winemaker's dream, a vintage Decanter says “belongs in an echelon with the finest of the past two decades,” and 2018 Wine Spectator blessed this year with 99 points and said it was a"Spectacular year, with wines that are rich and dark, but detailed, restrained in style and very terroir-driven."

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, aromas of ripe currant, blackberry, and cherry mingle with cedar and cigar box notes. The palate opens with a burst of dark fruit flavors, followed by subtle vegetal notes of bell pepper, olive, and asparagus. These are balanced by warm spices, ginger, and a touch of oak and vanilla, leading to a long, satisfying finish.

Attractive dark-fruited character with hints of walnuts, chocolate orange and dried leaves. Full-bodied, structured and refined with fine-grained tannins that are compact and a little chewy. Impressive succulence in the middle and hints of nut shell and wet stones to close. Drink or hold. ~92 James Suckling

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve If Six Was Nine is terrific, with juicy dark, almost blue, fruit to go with classic notes of tobacco, lead pencil, and chocolate. It’s balanced and medium-bodied, with a pure, elegant profile and a great finish. ~91 Jeb Dunnuck

A wine blended from several vineyard sites, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon If Six Was Nine matured in about 20% new French oak, leaving it with some cedar and cola notes layered atop cassis and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and plush, it finishes long and velvety. ~90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
