Known as the gateway to Anderson Valley, the Yorkville Highlands is a picturesque region who's porous soil and cool climate generate perfect conditions for viticulture.  Selected from the best barrels, the 2013 High Ground Reserve Syrah hails from a phenomenal vintage that's marked by an easy winter and perfect summer. A lack of heat spikes allowed for an even ripening and rich fruit. The wine is robust and complex filling the palate with ripe fruit and a kiss of oak. Don't miss out on this Northern California gem!

Aging: 2 years in 50% new French Oak

Ripe cherry, vanilla, currants and cracked pepper are obvious on the nose with hints of blueberry, and and Spring violets. Two years in new oak has softened the palate and added notes of caramel, and cedar. The 2013 High Ground is ripe robust wine and would pair well with Roast Duck, Octopus, or your favorite savory dish.

“In 2006, he (Matt) crushed his first wine grown entirely in the Yorkville Highlands appellation, where his winery, Meyer Family Cellars, is located. He kicked off 2007 by celebrating his 30th birthday and releasing an impressive Mendocino County Syrah, the first wine he made entirely from budbreak to bottling....At one time, everyone who cared about American wine knew Justin Meyer's name, because he co-founded the iconic Silver Oak winery in Napa Valley in 1972. He was also a larger-than-life personality who helped create the Napa Valley we know today, and thereby influenced the course of California wine." Learn more ~San Francisco Chronicle.
