Newly elevated to Grand Cru Classé status in 2022, Château Badette delivers a bold and modern expression of Saint-Émilion, balancing richness with structure. The 2022 vintage showcases the estate’s meticulous winemaking, offering a powerful yet refined wine that will evolve beautifully over time.

Crafted from 67% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, this deeply inky-hued wine is an explosion of ripe black cherries, blackberries, and dark chocolate, accented by notes of graphite, smoked tobacco, and crushed stone. The full-bodied palate is both opulent and structured, delivering waves of silky yet chewy tannins, with a backbone of fresh acidity that ensures balance and longevity.

At once muscular and elegant, the 2022 Château Badette is a wine of concentration and power, yet retains an appealing juiciness. Its complex, hedonistic profile makes it an exceptional candidate for long-term aging, reaching its full potential from 2026 through 2045.

Aging: 18 months in French oak barrels (70% new, 30% one-year-old).

Critical Reviews

Powerful and concentrated, the 2022 Château Badette is a full-bodied wine with a wealth of ripe black cherries, blackberries, smoked tobacco, and graphite. The palate is rich yet mineral-driven, showing remarkable balance. A more modern-styled Saint-Émilion, it will take 5-7 years to evolve and will age gracefully over the following two decades. ~95 Jeb Dunnuck

Intense and fruit-forward, this wine delivers bold notes of blackberry, chocolate, and walnut. The full-bodied palate remains focused and tensioned, leading to a chewy, structured finish. ~94-95 James Suckling

Richly colored and opulent, the 2022 Château Badette opens with layers of toasty oak, followed by a wealth of ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, and fudge. Creamy, long, and complex, this wine is both hedonistic and fresh. Best enjoyed from 2026-2045. ~93-95 The Wine Cellar Insider

Sleek and muscular, with high-toned strawberry, raspberry, and red cherry fruit, lifted by high acidity. Notes of crushed stone and powdery tannins provide depth, though the wine remains coiled and reticent at this stage. Bold and seriously constructed, with concentration and underlying power, while maintaining juiciness. ~93 Decanter

The 2022 Badette is a powerful, opulent wine, brimming with black cherry, chocolate, spice, new leather, and licorice. This flamboyant Saint-Émilion is designed to impress. ~93 Vinous
